Jay Brannan (June 24, 2012)

It's been a while since I've featured anyone like Jay Brannan (https://www.facebook.com/JayBrannan), an singer-songwriter who creates simple and smart songs with lyrics that really make you pay attention and think along with a sweet voice that often hides the deeper/darker meaning of the songs.  His most recent album, "Rob Me Blind" is outstanding (and is available for only $5 on Amazon (http://amzn.com/B007JCPFLG).  His song "Beautifully" was the first to grab my attention (even though it's not exactly a typical love song to say the least).  I also really like "The Spanglish Song" and "Everywhere There's Statues" - but each song on the album is worth a listen.

Next week is our 5th Anniversary! Please show your support and appreciation of this group by making a donation to help build a school in Nicaragua through Pencils Of Promise by going to: http://pop.stayclassy.org/fundraise/pop?fcid=203165  THANK YOU!!!

Have a great week and enjoy the music!

Family of the Year (June 17, 2012)

A great band and the perfect fit for Father's Day - go check out Family of the Year (https://www.facebook.com/familyoftheyear) - an L.A. based band that really brings a full family sound to their music.  If The Partridge Family were cool, indie and around in 2012 this is perhaps what they would sound like.  I HIGHLY recommend getting their free EP from NoiseTrade (http://www.noisetrade.com/familyoftheyear) which will give you a great sampling of their music.

It's hard to believe but we are only 2 weeks away from the Emerge Music Group 5th Anniversary!!!  I hope you'll help me celebrate with some great music and some help as well!  Be on the lookout for opportunities to make a difference in the next few weeks! If you're on twitter follow us @emergemusic and of course you can keep an eye on this page as well!

Happy Father's Day! Have a great week and enjoy the music!

Transmit Now (June 10, 2012)

I am so excited to share the music of Transmit Now (https://www.facebook.com/transmitnow) with you!  This great alternative rock band from Orlando has just released a brilliant new album titled "1955."  The album starts off with one of my favorite songs, "Just Like Medicine" that shows off this band's ability to craft a great song in every sense of the word.  The song immediately pulls you in, the vocals are great and the chorus just sucks you in and doesn't let go.  "Marty McFly" is a great song not just for the Back to the Future title reference but for every aspect of this classic/throwback song. And keep on listening for more great songs!

And for a limited time, if you "like" their facebook page and comment about their new album "1955" they'll send you a link to download their first album for free.  So head on over, like a great band and album and get more music for free!  What are you waiting for??

Have a great week and enjoy the music!

Natasha Duarte (June 3, 2012)

Australian singer songwriter Natasha Duarte (https://www.facebook.com/tashiduarte) had already grabbed my attention the first time I heard her song "The Worst Part."  That was before I knew that this song won the International Song Writing Competition in her category beating out over 16,000 other songs.  And also before I knew that this talented writer, singer and perform is only 16 years old.  Natasha has an incredible career ahead of her and if there is any justice in the music world her songs will be heard on American radio in the very near future.  This is great pop music that reminds me of Avril Lavigne (not a bad comparison).  Her debut EP, Wanted to Feel, is available on iTunes for only $2.99!

Have a great week and enjoy the music,
Ira
