Jake Miller (September 30, 2012)

Jake Miller isn't my cousin (despite the last name) but I wish he was :) This 19 year old from South Florida is primed to make a huge impact on the rap/hop-hop music scene.  His songs are ridiculously catchy, his lyrics are smart, clever and fresh and he knows how to create songs that just feel right.  His music creates a new blend that crosses over between rap and pop music in a way that I think totally works.  Some of my favorite songs from Jake are "On The Move", "Day Without Your Love" and "I'm Alright" (which has great lyrics that really resonate in today's world).

Go give a listen and check out the great work this rising star is offering.  http://jakemillermusic.com

Have a great week and enjoy the music!

Kingsfoil (September 23, 2012)

Kingsfoil will release their brand new album "A Beating Heart is a Bleeding Heart" this Tuesday (Sept 25) and I cannot wait!  This pop/rock band from Pennsylvania already has a few solid albums under their belt but from what I've heard so far this is the album that will get people talking about them. The first song/video they released from the album is called "What Your Mother Taught You" (http://youtu.be/g-BkEDEWl3k) and it's available now for purchase.  It has such a great feel with a really catchy hook and I just love it! And now they've given us a sneak preview of "Quick Fix" (http://youtu.be/dhXa03Uus08) which might even be a better all around song. Get ready to know and love Kingsfoil!

Have a great week and enjoy the music!

Venice (September 16, 2012)

The only thing better than great new music is FREE great new music!  Venice (http://veniceofficial.co.uk/) is a great band from the UK who is giving away their debut album.  This is great pop rock music with just a hint of 80s influence with their use of keyboards.  "Heart That Could Heal," the opening track, is one of my favorites but all 6 tracks here are really solid and it's free so why not give them a listen!

Have a great week and enjoy the music!

Carolina Story (September 9, 2012)

Carolina Story (https://www.facebook.com/CarolinaStory is ironically not actually from Carolina - but their music goes well with the South or just about anywhere else.  This Americana/folk duo creates music with gorgeous harmonies, easy going melodies and music that yearns to be played on a back porch with an ice cold beverage in hand.  Their brand new song "Gold" will be released this Tuesday (Sept 10) - I've been lucky enough to get a preview and it's outstanding.  Also check out their previous work including their album "Home" which is what turned me on to them.

Their facebook page has a tab for a free download so be sure to grab that as well!

Have a great week and enjoy the music!

Toby Lightman (September 2, 2012)

Wow - what took me so long? I can't believe I haven't already done a feature about the incredibly talented Toby Lightman (https://www.facebook.com/tobylightman).  Toby has been around for a long while and had one or two hits several years ago. And while she may not be a household name she continues to crank out great new music.  One of her latest projects is called "T Killa's Workshop" and back in February she released her 5th EP just through this project. It's a great collection and the first song "All In The Attitude" has quickly become my go to song for that first thing in the morning wake up tune.  You can check out the latest collection here: http://tobylightman.bandcamp.com/album/t-killas-workshop-songs-collection-vol-5-hays-for-days
But everything Toby does is just golden. If you like great female voices and fantastic pop/acoustic/rock music you should be headed now to go give a listen to Toby Lightman.

Have a great week and enjoy the music!
